Is it possible to create an external link that goes to a specific sheet within a Excel workbook?

I have tried numerous ways to get a specific sheet to come up when a user selects a link instead of showing the sheet that was last viewed (normally the first sheet).

This includes adding the sheet name to the url after the file path link separated by "#" or "||". It seems to ignore this part!!

Please can anyone help? I have spent hours on this!

Thank you in advance.

Jan

    Hi Jan

Good day to you! Thank you for your response.

I'm glad that my answer works for you. About your next questions, firstly, about how to pass link via office scripts back to power automate, as our category focuses on Office 365 products, the problem you encountered is related to Microsoft Flow, to ensure that you get professional help and avoid incorrect information from our side, we suggest you post on the Microsoft Power Automate Community for expert assistance. This is a specific channel related to Power Automate. The reason I ask you to post a new topic is that in the Answers forum, we have limited resources and very little knowledge about Power Automate, and in Microsoft Power Platform Community Forum Thread, you'll get the most qualified group of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can share their knowledge or learn from your interaction.

I Apologize for redirecting you to a different community as the members of the posted category focus on users with Microsoft 365 concern and have limited knowledge about Power Automate, so to get a quick and better assistance, we redirect you in the correct way.

Coming to your next question on how to open office link on desktop, you can enable this feature by following the above steps:

    1. Go to File > Options>Advanced>File Open Preference.
    2. Select either Desktop orBrowserfrom the dropdown menu as your preference.

In addition to the File menu, you can turn this feature on or off right from the context menu of a One Drive or SharePoint-hosted Word, Excel, or PowerPoint document URL appearing in a Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Outlook Windows application. The context menu also allows you to choose a one-time file open behavior for a specific link by using the Open Withmenu option.

I hope my solution above can help answer your question. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to ask. Looking forward to your response.

    Best regards,

Many thanks, Jay-Tr. This works fine! Now for my next question....

Any chance this link can be passed via office scripts back to power automate?

Also, I would like it to open a link in the desktop version of excel.

    Thank you!

    Jan
