    Hello Mark Foote1,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

This often happens when using a charger that is not included with the device, because the possible reasons are:

    • The charger is not compatible with the computer.
    • The charger performance is not enough to support charging the computer.
    • The charger is not connected to the charging port of the computer.
    • The charging cable does not meet the power requirements of the charger or computer.

But if you're using a charger that came with your Surface device, I suspect the problem may be due to two things:

    1. The adapter is damaged.
    2. Battery loss is severe.

But let me add here that Surface battery drive anomalies are possible, so what I can recommend first is to visit the following link, download the driver and firmware pack for the Surface Laptop Studio model, and install it.

Download Surface Laptop Studio Drivers and Firmware from Official Microsoft Download Center

If the problem comes from a power drive, then this is usually the solution.

But if installing drivers and firmware packs doesn't solve the problem, then maybe you can try charging via USB-C:

But if you find that you're still charging slowly, it's time to contact the Surface aftermarket support team and send them your device for inspection:

I wish you all the best.

    Hi Mitchell,

Many thanks for the swift reply I have tried the advice you have given and unfortunately this doesnt seem to have rectified the issue it is still showing the weak charging status. I have a few days left on my warranty so it looks like I may have to send it off for repair.

    Hi Mark Foote1,

Sending your device to Surface aftersales while it's under warranty is the right choice, and the Surface Aftersales support team has the technology and equipment to perform a complete inspection of your Surface Laptop Studio.

Be sure to note how many days are left before the warranty expires, in case you are too busy to send your device within the warranty period.

If the warranty period is exceeded, sending the device to after-sales support may result in additional costs.

    Best Regards,
