In PowerPoint 2007 there is an ability to convert a list to a SmartArt graphic:-

Home tab

Paragraph group

Convert to SmartArt button

Is there any such equivalent functionality in WORD 2007?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi,

Thank you for choosing Microsoft Community.  I will assist you with the query you have with converting a list to a SmartArt Graphic feature .

Convert to SmartArt function is not available in Word. However there is a work around that can be followed,

  1. Select your list and either Cut it or Copy it. You may copy so that if you decide to keep the SmartArt graphic you can delete the list later if you wish to.
  2. Click where you want you insert the SmartArt. If you leave your list selected, the graphic will replace it
  3. On the Insert tab, in the Illustrations group, click SmartArt.
  4. Select the SmartArt you want to use and you may also change to a different design later if requited.
  5. If the Text Pane is not open, on the Design tab of the SmartArt Tools, in the Create Graphics group, click the Text Pane button.
  6. In the Text Pane, select all the text placeholders and Paste your list.

I hope the above information help. If you need further assistance on this particular issue or any other Office related issues let us know and we will be glad to assist you.

Thank you.

You can make the conversion in PowerPoint, I suppose, or just insert SmartArt and then copy individual items manually.
