Outlook for Mac: Flagged items as a Folder in Favorites

Question

Outlook for Windows has the option to show the flagged emails on the right side of Outlook at all times. However, the Mac version does not do this. Or at least I am unaware of how to do this.

The key is to not have to search for flagged messages all of the time, but rather have the flagged emails be reminders of things to do in between other tasks.

Please let me know if there’s a work around. I am quite unhappy with the Outlook functionality at the moment. It’s really affecting my workflow.

The given answer is not the same way as this can be done in Outlook for Windows, where 'all flagged items ' can appear as a folder in 'Favorites'.

Currently, by design, Outlook for Mac does not support displaying flagged emails as a dedicated folder in the Favorites section, as is available in Outlook for Windows. This limitation is due to differences in how the two platforms handle flagged items and folder customization and I'm so sorry for that.

While a direct equivalent to the “For Follow Up” folder in Windows is not available, here are a few alternative methods that may help:

1. Create a Saved Search for Flagged Emails
   • In Outlook for Mac, click into the Search bar.
   • Type is:flagged and press Enter.
   • Click Save Search to create a dynamic folder that displays all flagged emails.
   • Please note: Saved Searches cannot be added to Favorites in Outlook for Mac.
2. Use the Filter Option Within Folders
   • Open your Inbox or another folder.
   • Click the Filter dropdown at the top right of the message list.
   • Select Flagged to temporarily view only flagged emails.
3. Consider Using Outlook Web App
   • If this functionality is critical to your workflow, Outlook Web App offers more flexibility in customizing views and rules.
