Hello rob0face,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A.
Thank you for sharing your experience and taking the time to research. Based on your description and the documentation you linked, it looks like there may be some confusion about the availability of Office Scripts in Excel for the web with a Personal Microsoft 365 subscription.
According to Platform limits and requirements with Office Scripts:
Office Scripts are listed as “in preview” for personal and family Microsoft 365 subscriptions. This could mean the feature is not yet generally available and may not be accessible to all users, even if they are part of the Microsoft 365 Insider program. Preview features are often rolled out gradually and can be limited by region, account configuration, or Insider channel level.
Additionally, the documentation notes that using Office Scripts with Power Automate requires a Business or Enterprise Microsoft 365 license. Personal and Family subscriptions do not support this integration, even if Office Scripts are available in Excel for the web.
If you meet all the listed requirements and still do not see the Automate tab or access to Office Scripts, Microsoft recommends reporting the issue using the Feedback button in Excel. This could help clarify whether your account is eligible and whether the feature is expected to be available to you.
Finally, in case you might considering a switch, this post might be helpful: Switch to a Microsoft 365 for business subscription
I hope this helps clarify things.Best regards,
Thomas
