One way to test and try to resolve the issue is to remove the current printer driver and install an older version. This might help eliminate the problem. Give it a try and let me know if it works, okay?
Slow when printing to a Brother Laser from Win 11
HI all, I recently moved from a Win 10 machine to Win 11. I have a Brother laser printer (HL-3140CW) which is connected to my router wirelessly (but is within a metre from my router), the Win 11 machine is connected via Ethernet to the router. Previously, with the Win 10, I could send a simple one page WORD doc to the printer and it would print almost immediately. With the Win 11 it is taking nearly a minute. Maybe not such a big deal but why? The 'data' light on the printer flashes abut 50+ times so I am assuming it is the data transfer process that is slower than before. Any advice gratefully accepted.(Maybe there is a more appropriate forum to post this?)
Regards to all. SjH

I’m sorry for what happened!
This kind of printing slowdown after upgrading to Windows 11 may be related to several factors you can investigate to help resolve the issue.
Windows 11 may have installed a generic printer driver.
Download the latest specific driver for the HL-3140CW model directly from Brother’s official website.
Windows 11 often sets up printers using WSD (Web Services for Devices), which is known to be slow.
Solution:
Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Right-click your printer and select Printer Properties.
Go to the Ports tab.
Check if it's using a WSD port (something like WSD-...). If so:
Create a new TCP/IP port:
Click Add Port.
Choose Standard TCP/IP Port.
Enter the printer’s IP address (you can find it on the printer’s display or your router).
Finish the wizard and set this new port as the default.
The print spooler service may be experiencing delays:
Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
Find Print Spooler, right-click it, and choose Restart.
Make sure the Startup Type is set to Automatic.
Some antivirus programs or firewalls (especially third-party ones) may slow down communication with network printers.
Try temporarily disabling the antivirus/firewall to see if performance improves.
Go through these checks and let me know if any of them help solve the problem.
Best regards,
Mario B.
