Everytime I try to open Word it gives me a message saying there is a problem that needs to be fixed however it hasn't gotten fixed and it has been like this for quite some time now. I have tried to press repair now and it just closes word but when I try to reopen word the same message appears. Screenshot 2025-07-27 102842

The issue is still ongoing. I tried the online repair through the control panel and it says something went wrong. when i open it in safe mode the same message keeps coming up.

If the Online Repair fails, all you can do is perform a manual uninstall of Office (see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/manually-uninstall-office-4e2904ea-25c8-4544-99ee-17696bb3027b) and then start from the beginning.

    Hello @Hussein Osman,

Thank you for reaching out to the Q&A forum!

For your situation, here are some solutions you can try:

    1. Repair Office from Control Panel:

I understand you mentioned trying the “Repair Now” option within Word, but there’s a more comprehensive method you can try:

    • Go to Control Panel => Programs => Programs and Features.
    • You will locate Microsoft Office in the list, then right-click it and choose Change.
    • Select Online Repair and follow the prompts.

This method performs a deeper repair of the Office installation and often resolves issues that the in-app repair cannot fix.

    2. Open Word in Safe Mode:

Sometime, the issue is caused by add-ins or custom settings. So you can try open Word in safe mode by:

    • Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog, then type winword /safe and press Enter.

If Word opens successfully in Safe Mode:

    • You can go to File => Options => Add-ins.
    • At the bottom of the window, next to Manage, select COM Add-ins and click Go.
    • Uncheck all the add-ins listed, then click OK.

Additionally, if you can open another Office app (like Excel), go to File => Account => Update Options => Update Now or try to reinstall the app.

If these steps don’t resolve the problem, could you please confirm the following so we can assist you better?

    1. Does the issue occur both in the desktop app and in Word Online (web version)?
    2. Is your account a work/school account (managed by an organization), or a personal Microsoft account?
