I have a WD MyCloud network hard drive that I could access from my Windows 10 desktop. Now I have a Windows 11 desktop and I cannot access the MyCloud. I can "see" the drive in ThisPC but when I try to map the MyCloud I keep getting an "An extended error has occurred" error message with no code. How do I configure Windows 11 to be able to access a legacy device? I backed up information from my old computer to be able to move it to this computer.

Basically, I got a new Windows 11 PC, and as soon as I started it up, I could see the MyCloud EX2 Ultra listed in my network, so it was detected, but when I tried to access it, I got a network error that said 'Windows cannot access\MyCloudEX2Ultra, check your spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. To try to identify and resolve network problems, click diagnose (which didn't help)'
So I contacted Western Digital support, who were really good and got back to me the following day with the below.
I followed the steps below, and it completely solved my problem. I now have complete access to my MyCloud drive.

I understand that you're facing local access issues to your My Cloud Ex2 Ultra. I regret this inconvenience and assure you I will do my best to assist you.
I would like to inform you that this issue stems from your Windows PC settings after a possible update that may have blocked access, preventing Windows security from accessing the device. Simply refreshing the credentials associated with your My Cloud EX2 Ultra device will restore local access. Here are the steps we took together to resolve this issue for future reference: - Right-click the Start menu to open the Windows menu. - Click Control Panel in the Windows menu to open it. - In Control Panel, locate and click Credential Manager. - User Accounts - Click Windows Credentials. - Click the Add a Windows ID link in the upper right corner of the Windows Credentials list. -If the My Cloud device is already added (either by name or IP address), delete it and then click Add again. -Type the name you gave your My Cloud EX2 Ultra in the "Internet or network address bar" or its IP address, your dashboard username in the "Username" field, and your dashboard password in the "Password" field. If you haven't set a password to access your My Cloud device's dashboard, you'll need to create one first and then enter it here. SMB 1.0 has well‑known vulnerabilities, it’s been disabled by default on secure systems since 2017.
Guest access means no authentication and no signing so your disk is exposed to anyone on your home network unless behind a strong firewall.
Keeping SMB 1.0 enabled increases risk of malware spread across your LAN. Therefore, the correct workflow is: enable > copy > disable > lock back SMB settings.
Hi! This is a communication error due to old protocols, the best fix is to bring the drive up to SMB 2/3 if possible, or, if that isn’t an option, temporarily re-enable the legacy protocol on your Windows 11 PC long enough to copy your data. Only use this while you copy data off the old NAS; SMB 1.0 is vulnerable and should be disabled afterward

It has been a long time since I've worked with RegEdit or Cmd Line commands. So, the linked article is way over my head. WD no longer supports my MyCloud device so there is no firmware update available. I have turned on SMBv1/CIFS using the Windows Features process. Should I disable it? If I leave it enabled for now, what other settings in Windows (that a layman like me) can check and set accordingly.
