I had my devices hacked and accounts stolen, ive managed to gain access to some of my accounts but Microsoft only wants to send codes and stuff like that to the only accounts I can't access. How can I possibly change the email or phone number? This shouldn't be difficult but because of lack of caring about loyal clients they don't other giving you access to have help from a human. Please help

    Hi Brad,

Thanks for using Microsoft product and posting in the Microsoft Q&A. I understand how frustrating and concerning this situation must be, and I want to assure you that we take your account security very seriously.

The current automated system is designed to protect accounts by verifying the user's identity before allowing changes, but this can create a difficult loop when the security information has been compromised. The good news is, there are a few things you can do to prove you are the real owner:

Here's a step-by-step guide to take back control of your account.

Step 1: Use the Microsoft Account Recovery Form

When you can't access your security information, the Microsoft account recovery form is the most effective method. This automated process asks for information to prove you own the account.

    1. Go to the form: Visit the official Microsoft account recovery form.
    2. Provide a contact email: You'll need to enter an alternate email address that Microsoft can use to contact you.
    3. Fill it out with details: Provide as much information as you can remember.

Tip: Don't worry if you don't have all the information. Guessing is okay since wrong answers don't count against you. The key is to provide enough accurate details to convince the automated system that you are the real owner. You can submit this form up to two times a day

Step 2: Change Your Security Information (The 30-Day Waiting Period)

Once you've successfully regained access (or if you can sign in but can't receive a code), you can change your security information. However, this process comes with a built-in security delay.

    1. Sign in to your Microsoft account.
    2. Go to the Security tab.
    3. Choose the option to Remove the security information (the email/phone number the hacker added) that you no longer have access to.
    4. You will be prompted to add new security information (your new email or phone number).

This will start a 30-day waiting period. During this time, the old security information will remain on the account, and you won't be able to make any other security changes.

    Step 3: Contact Microsoft Support

While I can't access your specific account or forward your request to a live agent, I can offer some additional guidance how to reach them.

Note: Use a different, working Microsoft account to contact support. This email address will only be used for the recovery process.

    • Visit the Microsoft Support website: Contact Us - Microsoft Support
    • Search for "Recover Account"
    • Click on "Get help" and press Enter.
    • Scroll down and click on "Contact Support"
    • Select your product/service: Select "Other products".
    • Select a category: Select "Manage account security".
    • Search for "Chat with a support agent in your browser."

Note: The contact support team only works at certain times, so if the last window says it's not there, try opening it again the next day. If you prefer phone support, you can leave a phone number. That way, they can call you and help you.

I hope these steps provide some immediate relief and guidance. I recognize the importance of reliable email service, and I'm here to help you through these troubleshooting steps.

Please let me know how these suggestions work for you, or if you'd like assistance in navigating Microsoft's support channels.

    Warm regards
