Office apps closing unexpectedly since mid-July – Deployed via Intune

Since mid-July 2025, multiple users have reported that Microsoft Office apps — including Outlook, word, Excel all office apps — are randomly closing without warning during the day.

The Office apps are deployed to all managed devices via Microsoft Intune (Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise deployment). This issue is affecting multiple devices across different sites, suggesting it is not isolated to a single machine.

Environment:

Deployment method: Microsoft Intune (Office 365 Suite deployment policy)

  • Update channel: [ Current Channel]

Windows versions affected: [List versions, e.g., Windows 10 22H2, Windows 11 23H2]

    Hi Mona,

I'm Cherrelyn and I'm here to help.

Please try rolling back to the previous stable Office version in Intune or switching the update channel temporarily to Monthly Enterprise Channel. Also, check for any conflicting add-ins or policies pushed via Intune that may have coincided with the mid-July updates. This should help confirm if the crash is tied to a recent update.

I hope this will help and If you have any question please feel free to ask.

    Warm regards,

    Cherrelyn
