Dear Kevin Carver,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Community. I understand you're experiencing an issue where your outgoing emails in the New Outlook for Windows do not reflect your updated display name, even after changing it in your Microsoft account. I am happy to assist you with that.
Here is a clear approach ,please kindly follow to see if it helps
In the New Outlook , the display name shown to recipients is typically pulled from your Microsoft account profile or the email account settings. If you've already updated your Microsoft account name and it's not reflecting in outgoing emails, please follow these steps:
Step 1: Confirm Your Microsoft Account Display Name
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/profile
Sign in with the account linked to your Outlook email.
Under “Your info,” click Edit name.
Update your First name and Last name, then click Save.
Note: Changes here may take up to 24 hours to reflect across Microsoft services.
Step 2: Verify Display Name in Outlook Account Settings
Open the New Outlook for Windows.
Click the Settings (gear icon) in the top right corner.
Scroll down and select Accounts > Email accounts.
Locate the email account in question and click Manage.
Look for a field labeled Your name or Display name.
Update it to your preferred name and save changes.
If this option is not available in the New Outlook , you may need to make the change via the web version:
Go to https://outlook.live.com
Click Settings > View all Outlook settings > Mail > Sync email
Under “Email aliases,” confirm the name associated with your sending address
Step 3: Send a Test Email
After updating your display name:
Send a test email to another account you own.
Check the “From” field to confirm the updated display name appears correctly.
If the issue persists, it may be due to cached settings or propagation delay. Try restarting Outlook or waiting up to 24 hours.
For additional guidance, you can refer to Microsoft’s official article: Change the display name that email recipients see in classic Outlook - Microsoft Support
