Legacy model version: This deployment is using legacy model gpt-4o-transcribe version 2025-03-20 which will be retired on 10/15/2025 local time. When the version retires, inferencing will return error responses and all deployments for this version will not be supported. To avoid disruptions, you can edit the deployment now to update the deployment to a supported version, if a new version is available.

I get this message but I don't see any upcoming replacement for the model does this mean that the model will no longer be available for usage and no upcoming replacement in the horizon or what?

Hello Mohamed Elnamoury,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A and thank you for posting your questions here.

I understand that you are concern about gpt-4o-transcribe retirement.

Regarding your question.

I get this message but I don't see any upcoming replacement for the model does this mean that the model will no longer be available for usage and no upcoming replacement in the horizon or what?

No, it does not mean the model itself (gpt-4o-transcribe) is being retired. It means that the specific version of that model you are using (2025-03-20) is being retired. There will almost certainly be a newer, supported version available. The message is a warning to upgrade your deployment to that newer version to avoid a service interruption. At any point in time, you should be able to update your existing deployment via your Azure Portal. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/ai-foundry/openai/how-to/create-resource?pivots=web-portal#deploy-a-model

Your API endpoint and deployment name will remain the same. You should not need to change your application code, only the model version the deployment points to. However, it is crucial to test your application after the update, as there can be subtle differences in behavior between model versions.

What If No New Version Appears?

This is highly unlikely, but if you truly do not see a newer version of gpt-4o-transcribe in the dropdown list, you should check the Official Documentation on Azure OpenAI Service models documentation - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/ai-services/openai/concepts/models for the most authoritative list of available models and their retirement schedules.

I hope this is helpful! Do not hesitate to let me know if you have any other questions or clarifications.
