All the suggestions for increasing active window border width suggest altering the "borderwidth" and "Paddedborderwidth" values in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics. Most suggest increasing the negative value. Copilot suggested making it a positive value. NONE of them work, even after restarting Windows Explorer.

What does the Windows 11 development team suggest?

There is currently no working method, setting or registry hack to increase the border of app window in Windows 11, that old registry key is not polled by Windows 11, so any changes to that registry value will currently have no affect on the borders in Windows 11.

Years ago, windows allowed the grab width to be set in a user-facing manner - part of settings. It was awesome - even users with jittery mice or trackballs were able to move and resize windows. Then, that was deprecated, and users had to use regedit to modify the setting. Nasty, but at least it was possible. Now... it's literally impossible to modify? That is entirely unacceptable.

Is Microsoft intentionally pushing users to use Linux instead of Windows?

The code has to be getting the value from somewhere. If it's hardcoded, the coder, te code reviewer(s), the functional testers, and the managers of the effort ALL need to be given 2 weeks notice.

If it's not hardcoded, inspection of the relevant code will reveal where the value is stored.

I can't believe this issue has remained unresolved for so long. Has everyone given up on getting Windows to work right?
