We have CONFIGMGRSEC service running on a file server server. Not sure why it is installed and will it consume Microsoft license?

    Hi @Avyayah ,

Yes. Agree with Erland. SQL Express does not require a license while the Standard Edition and Enterprise Edition require.

Most likely it will consume a license. But check which edition it is. Maybe it is SQL Express, and then there is no worry.

Please see this link for more information: https://www.microsoft.com/en-sg/licensing/product-licensing/sql-server?rtc=1

    Best regards,
    Seeya

CONFIGMGRSEC is the name of the instance. It does not say anything about any service as such.

Most likely it will consume a license. But check which edition it is. Maybe it is SQL Express, and then there is no worry.

Looks like some components of System Center may have been installed.
