I just joined Bing rewards and it is amazing but it’s weird though that the E tree program actively presented itself to me like it’s still 100% functional, I’m level three now working on a tree for my late grandmother. I really enjoy it and makes me feel like I’m contributing in someway to the environment., instead of canceling the program. I’m sure if Microsoft did a little more marketing and put it out there on TikTok and Instagram. It would definitely gain traction because I’ve never seen any marketing or advertisements or commercials about it before I joined Bing rewards. Food for thought on a future reconsideration or revamp of the program that’s integrated with Bing rewards.

The extension is still working for most of us. You can still use the extension, answer the dailies, get points and have it appear that your 'tree' is growing. But once completed -- regardless of what it states, no tree will be planted. Microsoft has discontinued the program as of August 2025.

For those of you who no longer have a workable extension, that's an issue with your own device. I would suggest you delete and then try reloading the extension but it's likely the extension is no longer available for downloading. You can risk it.

I am so mad.....the E-tree program is so simple and easy and fun, i already planted my first tree today and i find out that the program is discontinued, this would have been a game changer for the environment knowing how vast the microsoft platform is and how many users it has, it almost seems like microsoft themselves did not want this program to take off.......

As of Feb 24, 2026, I no longer see the e-tree in the Weather app. :( I don't even remember the exact days I've done it for, but it was definitely more than 720. RIP

Today is May 24th, 2026, and i just read online that the E-tree is truly no longer...useful? I can still see the E-tree, and it still works to finish a tree. I've been doing quite a few of them since i read that it will be over in 2023. BUT, i thought that, since it still shows up, it still works and my trees are being planted. But i was curious, and went online today, and asked Google. It very clearly told me i've been wasting my time. Which is...disappointing and sad, and i'm kinda hesitating to stop growing trees. But if the trees aren't being planted anymore, then i'm definitely wasting my time making sure i grow that tree every single day. So i'm going to stop. If it ever comes back, i will start again. But until then, i'm going to stop wasting my time doing something that clearly isn't happening anymore. I get certificates, but the trees aren't actually being planted. So...i'm going to stop. Perhaps you should as well, even if the E-tree still shows up for you.

I’ve enjoyed using E-tree as well and have received a number of plant certificates, so I understand how meaningful it has been. The program has now officially retired, but you may still see it appear in MSN Weather through Windows Widgets and the Bing app on mobile for a little while.

Microsoft has confirmed that any trees you completed before the retirement will still be planted and cared for by the Eden Reforestation Project. The program is still on the MSN Weather Page and appears to be functioning as it always has, same messaging, point rewards, Q&As, etc. So, we are to understand that despite its still appearing active, it is not, correct? I completed a tree after the end date in July. I assume that the tree will not count or be planted.

Why doesn't MSN just remove it?

We need to understand the reason for keeping the eTree widget is still active and if it is just to collect clics now, instead of planting a tree. I finish another round recently and it even showed me the location of the new tree.

As a fellow Microsoft e-tree user, I understand the frustration and confusion. I also noticed this on my end. Unfortunately, any progress towards e-trees not completed by the date the program ends, will be lost.

I will provide separate feedback about the features still being available, and I suggest you all do the same.

Microsoft announced last year it would no longer be a part of the E-Tree program. It ended sometime in July 2025, as I recall.

If you have the extension on your MSN Weather page (which you obviously do), you can continue to 'play' each day, answer the questions, etc. My extension continues to tick off my progress, but the thing is, NO TREE will be planted once you complete the entire process for that particular tree.

If your extension is not showing any progress when you answer the questions and finish the daily round, then there may be something wrong with your extension, but it doesn't matter in any event -- because NO TREE will be planted. The only reason I continue to 'play' is for the fun of it, plus I check in on that page daily to see the weather forecast, etc.

I also had continued collecting points and had "grown" and received the certificates for about 12-14 trees since July 2025.

I became curious about the Eden Reforestation Project and the trees supposedly still being planted in Mozambique - and where else trees are being planted. All of my searches related to MSFT involvement only turned up the info that the participation had ended.

When I went to the ERP website, I saw that the Mozambique project had been completed, and MSFT was not listed as a corporate partner. So, I messaged them and asked about it. The response confirmed that although MSFT had been "buying trees" and had chosen to plant them in Mozambique, they had not done so "recently" and they didn't know if MSFT had planted all of the trees that they had previously purchased.

So, yes, the E-Tree project is dead - who knows why it it still active on both the computer and mobile MSN Weather pages.
