Suddenly I find an MSN app on my home page which is not welcome. How do I get out of my computer? There is no app to remove.

    Hi Lester Young,

I'm Hendrix, here to help with your query on the Microsoft Q&A forums.

Apologies for any inconvenience you are experiencing. I am happy to help you today.

I understand how frustrating it can be when something unexpected shows up on your homepage—thank you for letting us know! MSN isn’t usually a separate app, which is why you can’t find an uninstall option. It’s often part of Windows features or your browser settings. Here are a few simple ways to remove or hide it:

    1. If MSN appears in Microsoft Edge

    • Open Edge → click the three dots (top-right) → Settings.
    • Go to Start, home, and new tabs.
    • Under When Edge starts, choose Open a specific page or pages and set your preferred site.
    • For new tabs: scroll to New tab page, click Customize, then select Custom and turn off all content.

    2. If MSN feed shows in Windows Widgets

    • Press Windows + W to open Widgets.
    • Click the gear icon → Show or hide feeds → turn off Microsoft Start or My Feed.

    3. To completely remove the MSN feed

    • Open PowerShell as Administrator.
    • Run this command:
winget uninstall "windows web experience pack"

(This removes the component that powers MSN news. You can reinstall it later if needed.)

Hi! My name is Aj and Im an Independent Advisor here to help! Try to open Microsoft Edge > Settings > Start, home, and new tabs. Under When Edge starts, choose Open these pages and set it to your preferred site or a blank page. Also check New tab page settings and change from MSN content to Quick links or Blank page.

If you see MSN on Windows widgets or taskbar news feed, you can right-click the taskbar and go to News and Interests or Widgets to turn it off.
