Is there a way to view all recordings of Teams Meetings within an Organization? We don't need to see the actual recording, but looking to see if there's somehow a way to view it's usage and who viewed the recording.

Thanks

    Hi @Paulino, Adam (LA),

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding how to track usage and viewership of Microsoft Teams meeting recordings within your organization. Below are the steps and tools that administrators can use to address this request:

Currently, Microsoft does not provide a centralized dashboard in the Teams Admin Center or Microsoft 365 Admin Center to display all recordings and views across the organization. However, it is still possible to monitor engagement using the following tools:

    1. Use Stream Analytics (on SharePoint) Meeting organizers or recorders can access the Analytics tab in Microsoft Stream to view:
    • Total views
    • Unique viewers
    • Viewer retention chart over time

This tool provides a visual and user-friendly way to assess engagement with each recording.

    1. Enable SharePoint Viewers to See Viewer Lists SharePoint site owners can enable the Viewers feature to display the names of users who have viewed a recording. Once enabled, anyone with access to the file can see the viewer list. This feature is especially useful for scenarios such as internal training, new employee onboarding, or project meetings.

    1. Use Microsoft 365 Audit Logs for Compliance Administrators can query the Unified Audit Log in the Microsoft 365 Compliance Center to determine:
    • Who accessed the recording
    • When it was accessed
    • How many times it was accessed

This method is ideal for audit and compliance purposes, particularly when verification or reporting is required.

    1. Combine Live Attendance and Recording View Data Teams provides Meeting Attendance Reports for live sessions. When combined with recording view data, you can determine who attended live and who watched the recording later — helpful for evaluating overall content reach.

    1. Be Transparent with Users If your organization plans to track recording views (e.g., for training or lectures), it’s important to clearly inform users. A simple notice such as: “We will be tracking attendance, including views of the recording” can help ensure transparency and compliance.

    1. Monitor Storage and Retention Policies Administrators should monitor where recordings are stored (OneDrive or SharePoint) and apply appropriate retention policies to prevent data loss. Managing the lifecycle of recordings also impacts the ability to analyze data later on.

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and oversight this may have caused you.

Once there, please consider creating a post to share your thoughts and suggestions regarding the feature. This action will help connect you with others who share the same interest. When a post receives significant engagement, Microsoft is more likely to take notice and prioritize the feature.

In fact, several features have already been added in the past due to strong user demand.

Thank you for your understanding and contribution.
