Issue Activating Microsoft Office – “Unlicensed Product”

Dear Microsoft Support Team,

I recently purchased a license for Microsoft Office, but I am experiencing issues with activation. When I open any Office application, it shows the message “Unlicensed Product”, even though I have already acquired and entered a valid license.

Additionally, when I try to repair Office, the process starts normally but only downloads and installs up to 92%, then stops without completing.

Could you please help me resolve this issue so I can properly activate and use my Microsoft Office product?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Best regards,

    Hello David Leal Jerez,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A.It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating activation issue, especially with the “Unlicensed Product” message and the repair process stalling at 92%.

As Palcouk suggested, one thing to check first is whether there was a pre-installed Office 365 Family Trial on your device. If so, uninstalling it completely can help avoid conflicts with your purchased license.

Here are a few additional steps you can try:

    1. Run an Online Repair from Control Panel Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, select Microsoft Office, and click Change. Choose Online Repair instead of Quick Repair. This performs a deeper fix and often resolves activation issues.
    2. Check Activation Status and Re-sign in Open any Office app, go to File > Account, and confirm whether your license is properly linked. If not, try signing out and signing back in using the account associated with your license.
    3. Clear Cached Credentials Open Credential Manager from the Start menu. Under Windows Credentials, remove any entries related to Office or Microsoft 365. Then restart your computer and try activating again.
    4. Make Sure Everything Is Up to Date Check for Windows and Office updates. Sometimes activation issues are caused by outdated components. After updating, restart your device.

I hope this helps fix the issues. Warm regards,

Did you purchase o365 from an official source? and not some random cheap web site? and in the process you gave personal details, bank and an MS Account was used/created?

Have you uninstalled any pre-installed o365 Family Trial?
