Hi! That red X is almost always a single-item sync error, not a sign that all your OneDrive is broken. In your case it’s typically caused by a stray Windows shortcut named “Personal Vault.lnk” sitting in the OneDrive folder.
OneDrive can’t sync that file type/name, so it keeps flagging it, even if you’ve never used Personal Vault. Your other files continue to sync normally; the red X just reflects the blocked item. You can confirm this by clicking the OneDrive cloud icon and reading the specific error (“item name or type isn’t allowed”) a red/black X means “this item can’t be synced,” not a global failure.
In File Explorer, open your OneDrive folder, enable View > Show > Hidden items, and delete “Personal Vault.lnk” if you see it (empty Recycle Bin afterward). If the message returns, briefly unlock Personal Vault from OneDrive on the web, let it finish, then lock it again and re-check the folder; that refresh often removes the bad link.
Uninstalling/disabling OneDrive on a PC does not delete your cloud files (you can always sign back in and resync), and having Office signed into a school account doesn’t, by itself, interfere with your personal OneDrive.
Windows supports one personal OneDrive and up to nine work/school accounts on a device, so seeing “OneDrive for Business” alongside Office/Skype installs isn’t unusual.
