    Hi Tim Hakfoort,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Sorry for this unwanted experience regarding your payment info cannot be updated. Here are some workarounds you can try to resolve this issue:

Verify Your Account and Payment Details

    • Ensure your Microsoft account's region/country setting matches the country where your credit card was issued. This is a frequent cause of payment failures. You can check and update your region in your Microsoft account profile under "Your info" or "Edit profile info".
    • Double-check your card details: Enter the card number, expiration date, CVV, and billing address exactly as they appear on your card statement. Even minor discrepancies (e.g., abbreviations vs. full words in the address) can cause errors.
    • Postal code format: Try entering the postal code with and without spaces, as some systems may be sensitive to this.

Try Different Browsers, Devices, or Payment Methods

    • Use a private/incognito browser window (e.g., in Chrome, Edge, or Firefox) to avoid cached data interfering with the payment process.
    • Clear your browser cache and cookies if you prefer not to use private browsing.
    • Try using a different device, such as a smartphone or another computer, to update your payment method. Some users have reported success when switching devices.
    • Consider alternative payment methods: If possible, try using a different credit card, debit card, PayPal, or mobile operator billing (if available in your region).

    Remove Old Payment Methods First

If your expired card is still listed, try removing it before adding the new one.

    Contact Microsoft Support

Since the forum is not authorized to investigate your account's details, I suggest you contact Microsoft Support for further assistance.

    • Visit this website: Contact - Microsoft Support
    • Type Contact in the search box.
    • Now click Get help, and Select Contact Support or Sign in to contact support below.
    • Go to the Products and services tab, and choose either Microsoft 365 and Office category.
    • On the Category tab, choose Manage account subscription.
    • Go to Confirm.
    • You can now choose the option of Chat with a support agent on your web browser.

Important Note*: The Chat support team only works at certain work times, (Monday to Friday: 9am to 6pm. Saturday and Sunday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) so if the last window says you are not available, try to open it again the next day. If you prefer phone support, you can leave a phone number. That way, they can call you and help you. *

Thank you for your patience in reading, we hope this information has been helpful to you.
