    Hi george enclarde,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A! I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing a sound issue on your laptop. To better assist you, could you please share a few more details?

    • Are you using Windows 11? And what is the model of your laptop?
    • Did this only start recently, and is the issue affecting all apps, or just specific ones?
    • Are you talking about built-in speakers, headphones, external speakers, or all of them?

This information will help us narrow down the cause and provide a more targeted solution. While waiting for your answer, here are a few steps you can try (on Windows 11):

1 - Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar to check:

    • Choose Sound settings > Confirm the correct output device is selected.
    • Choose Open volume mixer > Make sure the volume is turned up for all apps
    • Choose Troubleshoot sound problems to Run the Audio troubleshooter.
      • Or open Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters > Click Run next to Audio troubleshooter and follow the prompts.

    2 - Restart Audio services

    • Open Task Manager > Services tab > Search "Audio"
    • Right-click and Restart for Audiosrv and AudioEndpointBuilder.
    • Ensure Status is "Running" and Startup type is "Automatic"

3 - Check the audio drivers in Device Manager

    • Open Device Manager > expand Sound, video and game controllers
    • Right-click your audio device > Update driver > Search automatically for drivers
    • If the automatic update doesn't find anything, you have to do it manually:
      • Identify your laptop model > Visit the manufacturer's support website
      • Enter your model number > navigate to Drivers & Downloads section.
      • Download the latest Audio or Sound driver > install and restart laptop.
    • If that still doesn't work, we will reinstall the Audio Device:
      • Right-click on your audio device > select Uninstall device.
      • Check "Attempt to remove the driver for this device" > restart your laptop
      • If Windows doesn't automatically reinstall > download manually as instructed above.

If you've tried everything and still have no sound, it's possible the internal speakers or audio hardware have failed. You would need to contact the laptop manufacturer's support or a repair shop for service.
