I'm Hendrix, here to help with your query on the Microsoft Q&A forums. Apologies for any inconvenience you are experiencing.
I understand how stressful it can be to suddenly lose access to your saved passwords, especially when you trusted they were safe. Let me explain what happened and how you can move forward.
Microsoft recently discontinued the password management feature in the Authenticator app as part of a shift toward more secure, passwordless sign-in methods.
- After June 2025, you could no longer add new passwords.
- By August 1, 2025, all stored passwords in Authenticator were permanently deleted unless they were exported or synced elsewhere.
Here are some methods for you to get all of your passwords back, please kindly follow:
- If you had Edge password sync turned on with the same Microsoft account, your passwords should still be available.
- Open Edge and go to:
edge://settings/profiles/passwords - If you see your saved logins there, you’re good to go.
2- If you enabled cloud backup in Authenticator, reinstall the app and restore from backup: Open Authenticator → Settings → Backup.
3 - If nothing is there, start resetting your most important accounts (email, banking, work logins) as soon as possible.
I look forward to receiving your update and I'm willing to collaborate with you till we resolve the issue. Please keep me informed.
