I'm sorry to hear you're encountering an issue when signing in to Copilot in Microsoft Edge. This is a common and frustrating issue, especially on new devices. The problem is usually not with your account, but with the browser's state or permissions. Let's work through some effective solutions:
1 - Clear Edge's cache and cookies
- Open Microsoft Edge > press Ctrl + Shift + Delete
- In the "Clear browsing data" panel:
- Check Cached images and files
- Check Cookies and other site data
- Set range to All time > click Clear now
- Right-click Taskbar > Task Manager > end all Microsoft Edge tasks
- Reopen Edge > try signing in again directly from your browser
2 - Check Edge browser settings
- Open Edge > Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Site permissions > All permissions > Pop-ups and redirects:
- Under Default behavior, turn OFF Blocked to allow all pop-ups
- Or, Add site to Allowed to send pop-ups and use redirects
- Also, check "Not allowed" list to see if any site is accidentally blocked.
- Go back to Privacy, search, and services > Cookies > Make sure:
- Allow sites to save and read cookie data is ON
- Block third-party cookies is OFF
- In addition, you can add specific sites to the "Sites that can always use cookies" list.
3 - Disable all extensions:
- Go to
edge://extensions/in the address bar. - Toggle OFF every single extension.
- Restart Edge and try the sign-in button again.
4 - Repair or reset Microsoft Edge:
- Go to Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Find Microsoft Edge > click the three-dot > Modify:
- Click Repair > refresh Edge's core files without affecting your data.
- Click Reset > restore Edge to its default state (delete your extensions and temporary data)
