I love how a functional sharing capability in the previous version was de-activated in the "Updated" version. I swear the goal is to make the product worse with every update.

Once again New Outlook fails to effectively meet REAL business needs. Why are the MS development teams blind to delivering product improvements that actually "IMPROVE" effecincy.

This is ridiculous. What a damn mess. Why can't you have a button that simply allows you to share an individual contact.

I'm exploring Google Works. MS Outlook is awful.

    Hello dvipa it,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community Forum. Please accept our warmest regards and sincerest hope that all is well.

I understand you’re looking to share contacts using the new Outlook interface, and this feature is essential to collaborate effectively with your colleagues.

We appreciate your patience as you adapt to the new Outlook interface, and we’re here to help you get the most out of it.

In new outlook, sharing contacts directly from the new Outlook for Windows interface can be frustrating because there isn't a prominent "Share" button.

Here are two methods you can use to share contacts in Outlook for Windows:

    1. Export Contacts and Share the File

Open the People view: Click the People icon in the bottom left corner of the Outlook navigation pane.

    Select the Contacts:

    • For a single contact, click on the desired contact.
    • For multiple contacts, hold Ctrl while clicking on each contact you want to share.

    Export the Contacts:

    • Click on Manage contactsExport Contacts.
    • Choose a format for the exported file (csv or vCard is a common choice).
    • Select a location to save the file on your computer.
    • Click Export.

Share the Exported File: Once the export is complete, you can share the contact file using any method you prefer, such as email attachment, cloud storage link, or a file transfer service.

    2. Create an Email with the Contact Information

Create a New Email: Click on New Email in the top left corner of the Outlook window.

    Add the Contact Information:

    • In the To field, you can start typing the contact's name. Outlook will likely suggest the contact based on your address book. Double-click the suggested contact to add their email address.
    • Alternatively, you can click the Cc or Bcc field and then click From Address Book. Select the desired contact and click OK.

Optionally Add Additional Details: In the email body, you can add any additional information you want to share about the contact, beyond their email address.

Send the Email: Once you've added the contact information and any additional details, click Send.

Both methods achieve the goal of sharing contact information, but they have different advantages. Exporting creates a standalone file you can share in various ways, while creating an email allows you to include a personalized message. If you frequently share contacts, you might consider creating a custom template with pre-filled information to save time. I hope these methods help you overcome the lack of a dedicated "Share" button in the new Outlook for Windows.

I did some further test on outlook on the web and also did some research on the issue to find a workaround option through the web. I found out that I cannot share contacts in Outlook Web either. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, I myself even did not know the feature is not available in outlook Web currently. I think your idea is constructive, we need to have this "share" feature in New and Outlook Web. I'd like to let you know that we have a specific official forum which is used to collect customers' feedback to Microsoft products, I found feedback: Sharing or viewing a shared contacts folder should be supported in Outlook on the web · Community (microsoft.com). This is about the same concern as yours. I voted for it and will share it to my team to help vote for it. At the same time, I invite you to vote too. Through this, our support engineers will be able to collate data and supporting details regarding this and might consider adding the feature as a good ground for future updates.

Please understand that our initial response may not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

Appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation. Have a great day!

    Sincerely,

    Microsoft Community Moderator
