As of 30-Sept the bug is still present; the problem is as described above: dictated text appears in grey. It should turn black, and be incorporated into the active document. If one waits long enough this usually happens. But if one does not wait long enough, which is the the typical workflow, the dictated text disappears and is deleted.

This is new behavior, it began about a week ago.

Microsoft needs to fix this. As is well known, Microsoft is forcing customers to move from perpetually licensed products to subscription software with many cloud based functions. If cloud based functions are allowed to fail arbitrarily due to the unintended introduction of serious bugs, as is the case here, it is a real problem for customers. With perpetually licensed software end-users have some control over updates, features don't disappear in a haphazard way. This is, unfortunately, not the case with subscription software, with background updates and cloud based functionality.

Voice to text is not used by everyone, but it is essential to many, including users with disabilities.

OK. I just got off of support with MS.

Mine is now working again. It's not a smooth as it was, but it is working. All did was "quick repair".

Go to control panel > Programs > MS365 > right click > change > quick repair

Again, it looks like it's gonna wipe out what you said before the pause, but it puts it back and continues on. I am cautiously optimistic.

    EDIT 9/29 - Thought that was too easy . . . still broken :-(

This problem has been reported to the MS Word product team. The response was: "This also popped up on our radar. There is currently a tracking bug assigned to the crew for investigation."

So MS is aware of the problem and working on a solution.

I am still experiencing the SAME issue and SAME timing as others: MS Dictation consistently wipes out prior sentences, erasing everything I've dictated in Word. Microsoft, it’s time to address this ongoing problem.

SOLUTION THAT WORKS NOW:  The work around solution is to open Classic Outlook and dictate into a new email then copy and paste into word until MS fixes their latest bug.

If MS would pause the endless updates across Windows 10, Windows 11, and Office, perhaps we could finally enjoy a stable and productive environment. Since the launch of Windows 10, I have encountered more issues with the OS and Office suite than I did in the previous 35 years of using Microsoft products.

The core problem lies in the constant updates that are often untested or fail to work properly. This cycle of continuous, unstable updates is unacceptable.

Microsoft, STOP this pattern. Return to a more reliable update process—major updates with well-tested patches that ensure stability. Your current approach feels like a joke and creates a poor business environment for users who rely on your products for their work.

It’s time for Microsoft to prioritize quality and stability over relentless updates. Our productivity depends on it.

My Word dictation has had the same issue for at least a week. But when I dictate to outlook orany other app it is fine.
