WORKAROUND: If on Windows 11, use Windows Key + H to use that dictation function. It should work anywhere you type text.
While dictating the words appear then disappear.

2025-09-25T15:36:29.0633333+00:00 Same problem for me, and it just started this week. I have seen it suggested that uninstalling and reinstalling 365 might help, but I am not quite persuaded to try it yet.
The suggestion to use Outlook dictation was a good one and may get me through for now, but it looks like others are encountering this problem.

2025-10-01T13:26:03.13+00:00 It was not OK yesterday, 30-Sept. It actually seems OK today, 1-October, with some quick "test" dictation. I will try it with "real" dictation later today. Later: It is still not fixed.
Note to Microsoft, if anyone from the company is following this thread. This is a significant problem, particularly for people with disabilities who rely on voice to text. The descriptions of the problem in this thread are complete, detailed, and accurate. Further "examples" are not necessary. This is a new issue, it began just over a week ago. You need to fix it. The problem may be related to your server's processing speed; if text remains in the unverified/unconfident state for too long the local client (in this case Word) may delete it.
Thank you.

2025-10-03T10:43:20.0733333+00:00 After using 365 Dictate via Word for over a year with zero complications – for nearly two weeks I have been experiencing the same issues as this forum – thank you forum because I assumed it was an error my end. I have noted that it works perfectly at off peaks hours as I have been working longer days currently. Thank you for the heads up for using Outlook but I have noticed that also this seems to be slowing down. I have tried the quick repair, uninstall and reinstall. I have downloaded Word to my handset, and this is also an option to dictate and upload to OneDrive, but it is obviously not as convenient and more time consuming. I have tried the Windows speech (annoying) and Google dictate (also annoying). I pay for a monthly 365 subscription. It is of note my laptop is not compatible for Windows 11, but I am hoping that should not affect Windows 10 features. Is this an issue that will/can be rectified or is it recommended to start finding an alternative platform for fluidity. Any advice welcome. Thanks in advance.
