In Azure AI Foundry Content Understanding I have created two custom tasks, both Standard mode and Pro mode.

Both tasks do not accept my .docx documents.
While according to documentation, Standard mode should accept .docx

The documentation explicitly states that .docx is accepted input file. See documentation: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/ai-services/content-understanding/service-limits#input-file-limits

Version is `2025-05-01-preview for both custom tasks.
Region is Sweden Central.

What is the current state? Should it be supported or not?

    Hi Aristotelis,

The Content Understanding doesn't support the following file formats:

.docx (Word), .pptx (PowerPoint), .xlsx (Excel), .rtf (Rich Text Format), .eml/.msg (email formats), .xml/.json/.csv/.tsv are not supported.

The documentation lists them as supported, but on the AI Foundry they are not.

However, you can convert these files into PDF or JPEG, and they will work without any issues.

Feel free to accept this as an answer.

Thankyou for reaching out to the Microsoft QNA Portal.
