    Hello pop2azureadm,

Thank you for your question on Microsoft Q&A! I understand you missed the September 19, 2025 sunset date for Azure Database for MariaDB and now need to restore or export your data for migration to Azure Database for MySQL – Flexible Server.

According to the official documentation, all Azure Database for MariaDB instances were retired and deleted as of September 19, 2025, and the service is no longer available—including in the Azure portal or through backend systems. This means that if no backup or export was taken before that date, Microsoft Support cannot recover or restore the data, as the underlying resources have been decommissioned.

To help assess your situation better:

    • Did you have automated backups, point-in-time restore (PITR), or geo-restore configured before the retirement date?
    • Do you have any local or external copies of your database (e.g., from mysqldump, application-level backups, or third-party tools)?

If you had backups enabled prior to retirement, those might still be accessible depending on their retention settings but only if they were exported or stored outside the MariaDB service itself before September 19, 2025.

For full details, please refer to the official retirement notice (verified working link): https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/mariadb/migrate/whats-happening-to-mariadb

    Thanks
