Hey guys...

This really is my last resort cause i have no idea what to do or where to look for anymore.

After installing my VR stuff i noticed every normal, non-VR game starts freezing at certain events like
dying, killing a unit (a units HP dropping to 0) or just randomly.
I tried every single thing, use DDU and install fresh drivers or uninstall the VR software

Nothing helps not even a system restore to a day before the installation.

My only fix is pressing reset my computer in the settings

I am on my knees begging
someone help me. please

    Hi Geb

Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

I truly understand how inconvenient and frustrating it can be when your non-VR games stop working properly after installing a VR headset and its software. I also really appreciate you sharing the troubleshooting steps you've already tried. It helps narrow down the investigation significantly

To better understand your situation, may I clarify some points:

1.When you mentioned "system restore," were you referring to the System Restore feature from Microsoft Support?

If that’s the case, did the System Restore process complete successfully?

If it didn’t resolve the issue, I’d recommend trying a different restore point, preferably one from several days to a week before the VR software was installed.

2.Could you let me know the original VR software you installed?

3.Is the issue affecting only non-VR games, or are other types of software also experiencing problems?

In the meantime, here are some additional troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Run System File Checker (SFC):  This tool helps verify whether any critical Windows system files are missing or corrupted.

    • Open Command Prompt as Administrator
    • Type: sfc /scannow
    • Press Enter

Once the scan completes, could you please share a screenshot of the output? This will help us visually confirm the result.

For more details on how to interpret the results, you can refer to this Microsoft Support article: Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files - Microsoft Support

    2. Try “Reset this PC” with the “Keep my files” option:  If the issue persists, you might consider using Windows’ recovery feature to reset your system while keeping your personal files intact. Here’s how to do it:

    • Open the Settings app on your Windows device
    • Go to System > Recovery
    • Select Reset PC
    • Choose the option Keep my files

    undefined (2)

This process will reinstall Windows while preserving your personal data, which can help resolve deeper system issues caused by software conflicts.

I hope this helps clarify your situation and guides you toward to a solutions. Please know that while our initial response might not resolve the issue right away, your input is incredibly valuable. With a bit more detail, we’ll work together to find the best solution for you.
