Can not log into teams meeting: "The account you’re using doesn’t have access to this meeting due to org policies"

I had a Teams meeting today, however, every time I try accessing the meeting, this message pops up "The account you’re using doesn’t have access to this meeting due to org policies". I logged in as a guest, however, the host of the meeting was not able to see me on the meeting.

This is madness. I have tried all of these "solutions" and none have worked. EVERY SINGLE meeting I am invited to requires me to log out and back in as a guest. I have tried to contact Microsoft about this and have had better luck getting in touch with the IRS. I will not be renewing my 365 subscription because of this.

Let me guess, you are using a personal Microsoft account, right?

In this case, launch web browser in private mode, copy and paste the meeting link to the browser. When it asks you to use the app, stick with the browser. When it asks you to log in, don't. You should be able to join the meeting this way.

Asking them to invite you as a guest is not practical unless you need to join their internal channel for ongoing collaboration. Then your personal account is also tied to their organization that way.

Hello !

This message usually appears when the tenant has disabled guest access for Teams meeting.
When this setting is enabled, guests will not able to attend meetings created by someone in the tenant.
You'll have to ask the IT admin of the organization to enable guest access, or give you an account that allows you to attend meetings.

There is nothing I can do from my end correct? I have to reach out to the organizer of the meeting/ the host of the meeting and have them correct the issue correct? Also, if I join as a guest, can they let me into the meeting?

As Emily said, if you're using a personal account, you should be able to join the meeting as a guest.
However, if you have a business account, you'll still have to ask the tenant's IT admin.

For some reason it does not work. I tried joining the meeting as a guest however, the host of the meeting was unable to see me in the waiting room. Thus, she was unable to let me into the meeting. I am unsure of why this might be occurring.

Have you tried to join the meeting in private browsing ?

Yes, I still have the same error pop up. When I join using a private browser, it says asks me to wait for the host of the meeting to let me in however, the host of the meeting is unable to see me in the waiting room.

Let me be very clear, I did not suggest joining as a guest. It seems Aymeric misspoke on my behalf. What I actually recommended was joining through a web browser without signing in, which is different from joining as a guest. In fact, I specifically advised against joining as a guest. Guest users must be invited by the host to access a team or channel and are subject to the organization’s MFA setup, as that role is intended for ongoing collaboration.

Emily, sorry for the misunderstanding. Seems like I've misunderstood your point. Some organizations do not allow anonymous join (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/anonymous-users-in-meetings), which could cause the issue described by Jaspreet. Same for external access : if IT has disabled it, a error message will appear. That's why joining as a guest might be the only option (only if anonymous access has been disabled !)
