Can’t leave old Azure tenant — “Leave Tenant” redirects to sign-in loop and no admin access

I’m trying to clean up the directories linked to my Microsoft account and leave an old test tenant that is no longer required.

When I go to Azure Portal → Manage Tenants → [select tenant] → Leave Tenant, I’m redirected to a Microsoft sign-in page. It seems to be looking form some test account I don't remember.

If I just try to switch the directory, I get this.

Sign-in failed

    Hello @David Harbert

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Q&A. As I understand your account in provisioned in different Entra ID's and you want to remove yourself from those directories.

When you are try to click leave tenant, it is redirecting you to enter the credentials but seems you are blocked with the AADSTS5000225 error.

The error message you encountered indicates that your tenant has been inactive for over 200 days past the billing cycle, triggering Microsoft’s effort to remove inactive tenants. When a tenant remains inactive for this period, the OMS commerce system imposes a login block (AADSTS5000225). Twenty days after the login block is applied, the tenant is permanently deleted.

    Tenant inaccessible due to inactivity

Thank for connecting with us offline and sharing the details. We have worked with the engineering team and unblocked your tenant as it is less than 20 days since the login block is applied.

You are now able to perform the required action from your end.

Kindly accept the answer if this helps or do comment if you need more assistance on this.

    Thanks
