Disappearing emails

When i read emails on my ipad or iphone they disappear from the inbox on my laptop and I have to search for the sender to retrieve them.

    Hi @Susan Henderson

    Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum. 

    Based on your description, the issue could be related to conflicting email protocol, filters and sync issues. In order to better understand the situation, could you please provide us with the following information: 

    1. Are you using a school-provided email (e.g., @school.edu)? Or is it a personal email type (@hotmail, @gmail, @outlook.com)  
    2. Have you tried viewing your emails in the Outlook web app? If so, do the emails disappear too? 
    3. Are you applying any filters for the email?  

     

    In the meantime, I would recommend trying these steps below to see if it works: 

    1. Check account type: 
    • In the new Outlook, select Settings > Accounts

    • If it is Microsoft 365 or Exchange, this is causing the issue 
    • Otherwise, if it is POP, please remove then add the account again as IMAP or Exchange. 
    1. Remove account then add again 
    • In settings > Account > click Add account. 
    • Follow the prompt to setup the account.

    • Once signed in, remove the old account then try again. 
    1. Check message view 
    • At the top of your message list, select Filter, choose All instead of “Unread.”

    • Make sure Focused Inbox is either off or check both Focused and Other tabs.
