I have a P1 license, but when I create a group in Microsoft Entra Admin Center, I am not able to select "Dynamic" from the drop down. The drop down is prepopulated with "Assigned". How is this resolved so that I can select "Dynamic"?

    Hello Eugene Eugene,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

I understand that when you create a group in Microsoft Entra Admin Center, you are not able to select "Dynamic" from the drop down.

Sometimes in the Entra portal, the default option may lock you into "Assigned" unless you start from the correct place.

    Try This:

    Set:

Group type = Security or Microsoft 365

Membership type — click the dropdown → you should now see:

    Assigned

    Dynamic User

    Dynamic Device

If you still can't select anything other than "Assigned", even with P1 and proper group type, continue below.

    Check Directory Roles Permissions: -

You must have appropriate permissions to create dynamic groups. You need to be one of the following:

    Global Administrator

    Privileged Role Administrator

    Groups Administrator

If you're not one of these, the UI may prevent you from selecting Dynamic.

    Check your roles here:

Microsoft Entra Admin Center > Identity > Roles & administrators

Look for your name under one of the above roles.

Please reach out to us in case of any further issue.

Just checking in to see if the below answer helped. If this answers your query, please don’t forget to click "Accept the answer" and Up-Vote 👍 for the same, which might be beneficial to other community members reading this thread.
