Hello Nicole Hardman,
Thank you for reaching out in Microsoft Q&A forum.
I understand you’re facing an issue where, after updating and repairing Microsoft Office Home & Business 2013, the activation process can’t complete, leaving you unable to access your account.
Please verify system date, time, and time zone are correct. Incorrect settings can block activation.
After that, close all Office apps > go to Start > type Word > right-click > Run as administrator. Try activation again.
You can reactivate via Command Prompt:
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
- Navigate to Office folder:
cd \Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15 - Run:
cscript ospp.vbs /dstatus - If needed, re-enter your key:
cscript ospp.vbs /inpkey:XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX cscript ospp.vbs /act
If activation still fails:
- Go to Control Panel > Programs > Microsoft Office > Change > Online Repair.
- Or uninstall and reinstall Office 2013 by following instructions in this link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/uninstall-microsoft-365-from-a-pc-9dd49b83-264a-477a-8fcc-2fdf5dbf61d8
Office 2013 is out of mainstream support. If activation servers are permanently retired, you may need to upgrade to a supported version (Office 2021 or Microsoft 365).
