Bulk editing tasks in Microsoft Planner

It does not seem possible to copy fields from one tasks to many other, such as labels, duration or assignments. It is also not possible to open multiple tasks at once to edit in bulk. I have a license for Planner and Project Plan 3

How should it be done? This seems like quite a basic function to simply not be present or intuitive.

    Hi,

As far as I'm aware, you can update multiple tasks simultaneously in Grid view by selecting and dragging the tasks or by using Ctrl + the up arrow or down arrow. You can check this blog post for details. Other than that, I'm afraid this is a limitation of the app's current design. If this does not help, I highly suggest you submit a suggestion feature via the Feedbcak portal.

As far as I'm aware, when performing bulk edits in Grid view, users need to select tasks from the "Task name" column and use the "…" (more options) menu. However, this specific procedure is not documented in the official documentation.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Open a plan in Grid view.
    2. Click the "Assigned to" column to select multiple tasks → Only one task is updated.
    3. Click the "Task name" column to select multiple tasks, then click the "…" menu → Bulk edit works as expected.

Expected behavior: Bulk editing should work regardless of which column is used to select tasks, or the documentation should clearly state that selection must be made from the "Task name" column.

If that function isn’t working on your current premium plan, unfortunately, there’s not much we can do unless Microsoft adds it. I highly suggest you submit this through the Feedback portal.
