Issue with Microsoft account during ESU enrollment

Hello everyone.

I stumbled upon a problem when trying to enroll. Yesterday evening on 14th I received the final update for Windows 10 and after restarting my computer, I saw the "Register now" option for enrollment. I'm on a local administrator account. After clicking the option, it told me to log in with Microsoft account, which I did using my verification code that gets sent on email. Then I had 2 options - stay signed in with Microsoft account for free or pay for the ESU without being signed in, so I chose the first option. Then it told me to log in again. Here's where the issue occurs. I click on the button to send me a verification code via mail once more. And nothing gets delivered to my mail. No code. So does that mean I need to add another method to log in because the system thinks I'm logging in with the code too many times or is it something that shouldn't take place and allow me to log in normally?

    Hi,

Please note that the Microsoft account with the ESU message is where the enrollment was originally done. After completing the registration, you have switched back to a local account again.

So, as long as you sign in using the same Microsoft account on the same user (or even as a Separate user), Microsoft will still recognize the login and keep the enrollment valid within the 60-day limit for EU regions.

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

Several users experienced issues when registering for the ESU program on their Windows 10 PCs. Since higher registration numbers or multiple registrations may be recorded for the ESU program within a short period, you may be having trouble registering successfully right now.

However, in your situation, it is also recommended to check a few things before attempting to register for the ESU program.

    • Sign in to your Windows 10 PC with your Microsoft account.
    • If you did not receive the verification code on your alternate email, check your Junk or Spam email folders to see if the code ended up there.

If you're unable to find the code, sign in to your account here-

    https://account.live.com/proofs/Manage on your web browser.

Then, select 'Add a new way to sign in or verify' > Enter your phone number or use an authenticator app.

Next, enable two-factor authentication on your account.

Once these security changes are made, simply restart your computer and enroll in the ESU program.

Verify your Identity using the new options you added.

Let me know how it goes.
