Hi team,

After the recent Microsoft Office update, I’m facing issues with date formatting in Excel. When applying a filter to the column, the dates appear to be in the same format but are not displaying correctly. Please refer to the example below.

Pls consider this as high priority because impacting the business.

Regards,

Pranab

    Hi @Pranab Das

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand how important this issue is for you, and I’m here to support you as best I can within my scope. You mentioned an example in your post, but I wasn’t able to find any screenshots or related details attached. Could you kindly update your post with a screenshot or more context? That would help me better visualize the issue and provide more accurate guidance.

Additionally, I’d like to ask a few follow-up questions to narrow down the cause:

    • Are you experiencing this issue in the Excel web version, or is it limited to the desktop app
    • Is this behavior occurring across all Excel files, or only with specific ones
    • Has anyone else in your organization encountered a similar issue?

Please understand that our initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

If you have any updates or additional information, feel free to leave a comment under this post. I’m looking forward to hearing from you and continuing to assist.

Thank you again for reaching out and for your patience!

    Hi Rin-L,

The issue is like few dates are properly following but few are not. Even after applying all kind of formatting reset, changing format ->general to Date. or custom. I will try to attach screenshot.Screenshot 2025-10-17 183616

    Hi,

This issue is most likely happening because the data type of the last 2 entries is text. To convert from text to date/time data type, try this

    1. In cell B2, enter =py to enter python mode
    2. type pd.to_datetime(xl("A2"))
    3. Press Ctrl+Enter
    4. In the drop down to the left of the formula bar, select Excel value

    Hope this helps.

    Hi ,

Thanks for the formula. But it only applying when it sees the date format is bad.

But here the issue for me is in our report, the date is interchanged with the month like DMY to MDY.

    I need to just interchange the dates column MM/DD/YYYY hh:mm:ss into DD/MM/YYYY hh:mm:ss 10/16/2025 17:54:36 --->16/10/2025 17:54:36
