Hi Bob Sullivan, thanks for posting. If you're unable to transfer Outlook emails to your new iPhone because the alternate email address is inactive, the issue is likely with account verification during setup.
First, go to https://account.microsoft.com on a computer and sign in. Under Security > Advanced Security Options, update or remove the inactive alternate email and add a working one. This ensures you can receive verification codes.
Second, once your recovery info is updated, try adding your Outlook account to your iPhone again:
- Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account
- Choose Outlook.com and sign in with your Microsoft credentials
- If prompted for a code, it will now go to your updated recovery method
Lastly, if you still can’t access your account, use the Microsoft Account Recovery Form at https://account.live.com/acsr to regain access without the alternate email.
Let us know how it goes. If this helps, feel free to mark the answer as accepted so others can find it too.
Best,
Carl
