Predatory Ads and blatant lies by MS Copilot has cost me money, capabilities, time, and production

Hi,

I had been a Copilot Pro member for some time now, my father had shared one of his family memberships with me, and was perfectly content with my services. I kept getting pushed ads to get me to upgrade my Pro to 365 premium suggesting it would be an upgrade for the same price.

I browsed the ad and then asked Copilot what the difference was between Pro and Premium and was told that Pro has been discontinued and premium is a wholesale upgrade where I'd lose nothing and even gain a number of capabilities. I sat with it for a week, asked again. same answer. I pushed, "I'll lose nothing? Are you sure?" "nothing."

This month's billing cycle was coming up so I gave pops enough money for a year of 365 Premium and the moment my Pro membership lapsed...

I LOST EVERY-MICRO-INGSOCCING-THING!!!!

I spoke with support and - this would be almost comical if it wasn't so blatantly indifferent in its subversion of customer agency - they literally told me, "oh, yeah, this has been a big issue that a significant portion of our clientele are upset about," like that's supposed to make me feel better: "We can't offer you a solution, but how about a sense of solidarity with all the other customers our shameless oversight fudged in the ads. Alas... nothin' to do but ride this one out, I suppose. So, should I connect you to sales?"

To whomever ends up reading this,

I assume you're just the next layer in the Corporate accountability firewall, so nothing personal here, but would you mind forwarding a message onto whomever this applies to, please:

"Dear Microtrue Parasite,

Please go Premium yourself. I hope it rips your Pro in half. You'll never get another penny out of me again."

Regards,

xxx"

Thanks and have a nice day,

xxx

    Hi @Tim Nunyabiz

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Regarding your issue, I want to sincerely apologize for the experience you’ve had. I completely understand how frustrating this situation must be especially after being reassured that you wouldn't lose any features.

Here are a few steps you can try:

    • If you believe the advertising or guidance was misleading, submit feedback directly to Microsoft via Ideas - Community. Your feedback matters, and I’ll make sure it’s shared with the internal teams through the Feedback Hub so they can review it carefully.
    • Additional Tip: If you rely heavily on custom Copilot workspaces or personalized settings, I recommend storing important data locally before making major subscription changes. This helps prevent unexpected loss if features or services change during transitions.

As a community moderator I can only provide general guidance and cannot make change to accounts or subscriptions, but your input here is extremely valuable and will help improve the service for everyone.

Thank you for your understanding and feedback.
