I need help finding my missing files and folders - I signed up for the yearly subscription. But never gave anyone permission to delete my folders and files on my hard drive. They are missing now. And I keep getting all these companies saying they have my items on Icloud. I never signed up for Icloud, just my subscription services. I'm not going to pay 10 different companies I don't even know who they are. But I want to get my files and folders back that I never asked to have removed. I have my mother's memory book I'm working on and it's gone, my presentations are gone. A lot of files are missing? Where are they - how can I get them restored? I need a phone number to Call Microsoft directly so I can get this fixed. Thank you.

    Hello Lina Rott,

Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

I truly understand how frustrating and inconvenient it can be when a file stored on your Windows device is deleted without notice, especially when that file is important to you.

If you're using a Home subscription, you can use the "Get Help" app to choose a support plan that suits your needs. In some cases, a support agent may initiate a call to assist you directly.  User's image

In the meantime, may I kindly clarify a few points to better understand your situation?

    • Was the lost file stored in a specific folder that is now missing?
    • Have you checked the Recycle Bin to see if the file might still be recoverable?
    • Did you try using the Search bar to locate the file? If so, did it return any results?
    • Are you using any cloud storage services such as OneDrive or another platform?
    • You mentioned iCloud, could you please clarify how it relates to your current situation?

I sincerely hope this information partially clarifies your situation and assists you in planning your solution. Please do not hesitate to reply if you have any updates.

    Thank you for your understanding.
