How to fix PC not starting SrtTrail.txt error

Hi,

I'm helping a friend with an issue they're experiencing with their PC. A little while ago their PC blue screened and it's giving the error code: /Windows/System32/logfiles/srt/SrtTrail.txt

Whenever we have tried to do anything through the Windows Troubleshooting, it reboots back to the initial Windows 'Choose an option' screen. Continuing to Windows 10 as well as most of the troubleshooting options do not do anything or return to this screen.

We've looked at other posts with this issue but there's been no solution yet that has worked to fix this issue. We have already tried running Startup Repair but it didn't say that it encountered any issues. We have also tried to rebuild the boot configuration data, following the command prompt lines bcdedit and bootrec, however most of these command line have not resulted in any change. It wasn't allowing any of the DISM commands or showing the same results as expected.

We've since tried to completely restart and fully reinstall Windows 10 to the machine, but when we try and install the creation media to the computer, it has no where to install it to. I believe the PC currently only has an NVMe SSD, but it does not show up when trying to reinstall Windows. We've also downloaded the chipset driver to the USB and tried using this driver to install the creation media, but the driver also does not get recognized during the installation setup.

I can try and provide more specific information if needed, but any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Dear Connor Goodwin,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Forum.

Since Startup Repair and other commands failed, a clean installation is the best solution.

You could refer to this Reinstall Windows with the installation media - Microsoft Support.User's image Disclaimer: At this point, we have exhausted all troubleshooting and I recommend that we try to perform a clean install to get your computer back into a working condition. Please ensure that you backup any important data, including Documents, Pictures, Videos and more.
