How to reset my child's outlook.com password?

I’m trying to reset the password for my child’s Microsoft account, but I can’t find any option to do so in the family portal or the “Manage accounts” section. I’ve followed all the instructions I could find, including using the account recovery form https://account.live.com/password/reset 2 times without success.

The account was created a while ago and has never been used. Every attempt to reset the password either fails or loops me back to the same recovery steps without success.

    Hi Philippe,

Thank you for posting, I am here to help.

I know you want to help your daughter reset her password, children's privacy and online safety is very important to us and as parents we only have the authority to manage the amount of time a child's account is used or to manage a child's profile information.

Click this link to open: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/family-safety

and sign in to your Microsoft account. Click on the three dots above your child's account and choose the option Manage consent You will be redirected to the Manage Permissions page where you can see all the children that are part of your account.

Please verify if you have options to edit the child accounts information

To access the account recovery form, click this link to open: https://account.live.com/acsr

I suggest that you take your time to provide the necessary information, as this is critical to recovering the account.

looking forward to helping you out.  If you need more help please let me know. If the answer is helpful, please click "Accept Answer".
