Windows 25H2 issue

I have an issue with Windows updates following the upgrade to 25H2. Since the update, Windows Updates beleives the update is still needed and keeps reporting that it is trying to download but makes no progress. When the WINVER command is run this is showing 25H2 is already installed.

The Troubleshooter only points to here now so is pretty useless. Appropriate services have been restarted and download cache cleared.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to other things to try?

    Hi,

    Thanks for the input. I've managed to fix it without the (in my experience) semi destructive in place upgrade by running the commands below for a second time under a command prompt as administrator.

    dism /online /cleanup-image /restore health

    sfc /scannow

    This reported corruption was found and fixed this time and following a reboot, no more prompts to install 25H2 update.

    Thanks for the clarifications.

    My suspicion is that the upgrade to version 25H2, despite apparently being successful, may have left some corruption or a remnant that is causing Windows Update to think that version 25H2 needs to be installed.

    I believe the best procedure for this case is an In-place Upgrade. This procedure reinstalls Windows, which helps to fix problems.

    But don't worry. It's a simple procedure, and you have the option to keep files, settings, and apps. Therefore, all your data is kept.

    Download the ISO file to perform the procedure:

    1. Access the link below;

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11

    1. Under Download Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO), click Select download and select Windows 11 (multi-edition ISO for x64 devices);
    2. Click Download;
    3. Choose the language and click on Confirm;
    4. Then, click 64-bit Download.
    5. Wait for the download to finish and proceed to the procedure below.

    After downloading the ISO, do the following:

    1. Double-click the ISO to run;

    (After running the ISO, you may need to double-click the Setup file to start the procedure.)

    1. On the Install Windows 11 screen, uncheck I want to help make the installation of Windows better and select Change how Windows Setup download updates;
    2. On the next screen, select Not right now and click Next;
    3. Accept the terms of use;
    4. On the Ready to install screen, select Choose what to keep and select what you want to keep.

    (It is in this step that you must check Keep personal files and apps so that all your data is kept.)

    1. Click on Install and wait for the procedure to finish. Your computer may restart several times.

    After completing the procedure, check Windows Update to see if it has stopped suggesting the installation of version 25H2. There may be a regular update to be installed.

    If you get any errors or the problem persists, please let me know.

    Feel free to ask back any questions.

    Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

    Please clarify the following:

    Do you have a third-party antivirus installed? If yes, which one?

    Also, could you clarify the exact steps you took when you mentioned that you "cleared the download cache"? For example, did you manually delete the contents of the "SoftwareDistribution" folder or another folder, or use a specific command?

    I await your reply.
