I am not an IT person and I need to install a new SSL certificate on our server. I found out we have a Microsoft Server 2022 Standard. Go Daddy wants me to choose from the below list of server types to download the certificate, but I don't know how to find out what type Microsoft Server 2022 Standard is. Please help!

cPanel

Apache (CentOS)

Apache (Ubuntu)

Microsoft Exchange Server 2016

Microsoft IIS 10

Microsoft IIS 8

Microsoft IIS 7

AWS Server

Cisco ASA 5500 VPN/Firewall

Intel vPro

Microsoft Exchange Server 2013

Nginx

Nginx on CentOS

Parallels Plesk Panel

Windows for business | Windows Server | Directory services | Certificates and public key infrastructure (PKI)

    Dear QIC Christi,

You mentioned that your server is running Microsoft Server 2022 Standard. Based on this, the most common web server software used in this environment is Microsoft IIS (Internet Information Services).

If your server is hosting websites or web applications using IIS, you should select:

    Microsoft IIS 10

This is the version of IIS that typically comes with Windows Server 2022. It supports SSL certificates and is compatible with the installation files provided by GoDaddy.

To double-check that IIS is installed on your server:

    1. Press Windows + R, type inetmgr, and press Enter.
    2. If the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager opens, then IIS is installed and active.
    3. If not, you may need to install IIS or confirm with your IT administrator which web server is being used.

If your server is used for email (e.g., Microsoft Exchange), the certificate type would be different.

If you're unsure whether IIS is being used, feel free to share a screenshot or description of how your website or service is hosted—we’ll help you identify the right option.

Let me know how it goes, and if this answer helps, feel free to hit “Accept Answer” so others can benefit too 😊
