I only use Word, Excel and Outlook.

It shows up in Word and Excel, but not in Outlook, Viz:

My Office is Microsoft Office 2024 Professional Plus (PC)

I have been told to Sign Out and Sign in again, and that it is a synchronization error between

my account and my software.

But when I try to Sign Out I'm presented with:

Dear @Einar Flaathe

Thank you again for confirming that the issue has been resolved.

To summarize, the Outlook “Account Error – Fix me” you experienced appears to have been related to local Office sign‑in or credential synchronization. Managing the user accounts and ensuring the correct account status on your device helped prevent the error from reoccurring, and it has not appeared again since March 15, 2026.

If you have a moment, could you please review the summary answer posted in the community thread and mark it as Accepted? This will help highlight the solution for other users who may encounter the same issue in the future.

Of course, if the error appears again or you run into any other concerns, please feel free to return to the thread and let me know. I’ll be happy to assist.

Hi, your problem is that you have an illicit licence. There is no such legal version of Office Microsoft Office 2024 Professional Plus. There is an Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise Office LTSC Office 2024 Professional Plus, which is a volume based licence

    Dear @Einar Flaathe

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Regarding the warning you see when signing out:

    • This warning is not harmful if your goal is to fix sign-in issue.
    • Changes you make to documents will not sync to the server until you sign back in. However, your data is not deleted, only the synchronization is paused. (make sure all your files are synced before signing out.)

Please execute the two steps below first. If the problem persists after fully completing these two steps, please reply to this email so I can provide the next steps based on your scenario.

In Word or Excel, sign out, click "Yes". (Removing the account here only removes the local sign-in credentials from the Office applications, it does not delete your account data). You will need to close all open Office applications (Word, Excel) for the sign-out process to be complete, as indicated in the warning. Afterward, restart the PC, reopen Word or Excel and try to sign in again using your account.

If the issue remains after signing in again, please proceed with step 2 to clear the corrupted credentials:

    • Press the Windows key and type Credential Manager, then click to open it.
    • Select Windows Credentials.
    • Look for any entries under Generic Credentials that mention MicrosoftOffice or MicrosoftAccount.
    • For the relevant entries, click to expand and select remove.
    • Restart your PC.
    • After the computer restarts, reopen Word or Excel and perform sign in again.

Please perform the two steps above calmly and thoroughly. If the issue is still unresolved, please reply to this email, and I will provide the subsequent troubleshooting steps based on your situation.

    Looking forward to your response!
