After clearing the Drafts folder, the count does not reset to 0 and disappear

After clearing my 'Drafts' folder, the count does not reset to zero and disappear, and stays at 1 or 2 depending on the number that were in there. While not a major issue, it is annoying and I would appreciate knowing if a fix is available. I am current with MS and MAC OS updates.

I have used the "Empty Folder' option but the count number remains.

Quitting Outlook and restarting does not fix the problem.

Quitting Outlook, restarting the MAC and then Outlook also does not fix the problem.

I run a MacBook Pro:

Sequoia 15.6.1
MS Outlook for MAC Ver 16.100.1

Outlook | MacOS | Legacy Outlook for Mac | For home

    Hi Paul,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A Forum, and for sharing your build details. I understand how frustrating it is when the Drafts folder shows a lingering count (1–2) even after it’s been emptied.

Try to Sign in to the same mailbox at https://outlook.office.com or https://outlook.live.com. If OWA shows 0 while the Mac app shows 1–2, the issue is local cache/index in Outlook for Mac. You can also try to delete all your drafts in there.

Please also Ensure you’re viewing Drafts for the intended account (if you access multiple account to your Legacy Outlook. Also set view filter to All to make sure no filter is hiding messages.

You can also contact support for further assistance. Here are the steps to contact Microsoft Support:

    1. Go to Contact Support.
    2. Type “email stuck in draft” > Scroll down and click Contact Support (please skip all troubleshooting steps or similar articles if you just want to contact Microsoft Support).
    3. Sign in > Select Products and Services > Other Products/Microsoft 365 and Office (> Outlook) > Chat with a support agent in your web browser.

The initial response might not address the problem. So, if you need any assistance, feel free to ask me by clicking "Add Comment". Thanks for your effort.

    Hi again,

    I have resolved this issue.

The draft documents were still on my iPhone, and when I deleted them from there, the count of 2 then disappeared on my Mac.

So the issue appears to be one of syncing between the 2 devices.

The good news is that the annoying count has now been cleared.
