I tried to use my yahoo account when I setup my new laptop. MS will not send code to yahoo

When I setup my new laptop I used my yahoo account. I did not have an Outlook account. When I try to sign in - MS says there is a problem and to try back - when I ask for the required code. When I try to enter my password, same error.

How can I get past these to get to setting or similar to change to my new outlook account.

I can not get past the required code to do anything! I can not get to any of the areas that AI and other questions provide. Why does MS not say you have to have an OUTLOOK email to sign in. I tried my gmail email and others and none were allowed. yahoo email was last option. How to I get past the sign in to change the email address that will work. thanks. Sorry I am frustrated. f

Someone sent an answer, but it does not show up. I did check my Yahoo account. the PROBLEM is when I ask to send a code, it says there is an error and try back later. I have been trying many times a day for 5 days. I tried to log in with my password. I get the same error to try back later. I called Best Buy. They gave me another (3rd different MS number) all send me here.

Hi Floyd, it sounds like your Yahoo account isn’t letting Microsoft send the verification code. Are you able to access that Yahoo account and check if it has two-step verification enabled?

Microsoft requires a Microsoft account to sign in and set up Windows, so the easiest way is to either create a new Outlook account or switch your device to an existing Microsoft account. If you can’t get past the sign-in screen, use the Microsoft account recovery page at account.microsoft.com to verify your account and regain access before switching.
