    Dear Anderson Frederick - Hartford-Remote-HSB,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Community. I understand that you are having trouble signing in to your Outlook.com account using New Outlook for Windows. I am happy to assist you. Please follow these steps to fix the issue

    1. Confirm Internet Connectivity

    • Ensure your device is connected to a stable internet connection.
    • Try opening a few websites to verify connectivity.
    • If you're using Wi-Fi, consider restarting your router or switching to a wired connection.

    2. Sign in via Web to Verify Account Status

    • Open a browser and go to the Microsoft Account portal
    • Try signing in with your Outlook.com email and password.
    • If you can sign in here, your account is active and the issue is likely with the Outlook app.

    3. Use Microsoft’s Sign-in Troubleshooter

    4. Reset Your Password (if needed)

If you suspect your password is incorrect or your account has been compromised:

    • Visit: Reset your Microsoft account password
    • Enter your email address and follow the prompts to verify your identity.
    • Choose a strong new password and try signing in again.

    5. Recover Your Account (if locked or inaccessible)

    • If you can’t reset your password or your account is locked:

    6. Repair Your Outlook Profile

If your account works on the web but not in the Outlook app:

    • Open Outlook.
    • Go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings.
    • Select your Outlook.com account and click Repair.
    • Follow the prompts to let Outlook fix the profile. Repair your Outlook email profile

    7. Remove and Re-add Your Outlook.com Account

    If repairing doesn’t work:

    • In Outlook, go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings.
    • Select your Outlook.com account and click Remove.
    • Restart Outlook.
    • Go to File > Add Account, enter your Outlook.com email, and follow the setup wizard.

    8. Check for Known Outlook.com Sign-in Issues

    9. Update Outlook to the Latest Version

Outdated versions of Outlook may have compatibility issues.

    To update:

    • Open Outlook.
    • Go to File > Office Account > Update Options > Update Now.
    • Ensure you are using the latest version. Update history for Microsoft 365 Apps

    10. Use Outlook Web Access as a Temporary Workaround

This ensures you can continue sending and receiving emails while troubleshooting the app.
