How to fix MS Teams install/launch problem

Hello,

I am unable to launch the Teams app on Windows. I have tried clearing the cache, but there is no Teams folder present (I also checked for hidden folders). I attempted to repair and uninstall the app, but when I try to reinstall it, no installation window appears.

After attempting to install, Teams appears in the list of installed apps, but it does not show up in the Control Panel.

I would appreciate your assistance in resolving this issue.

    Dear @Omar

Good day! Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum!

Based on your description, I understand that you’re experiencing issues launching the Teams app on Windows. You’ve tried clearing the cache but couldn’t find a Teams folder, attempted repair and uninstall, and now the app appears in the installed apps list but not in Control Panel.

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by this issue.

To understand the situation better and provide you with the most suitable support, could you confirm the following information:

    • What version of Windows are you using (e.g., Windows 10, Windows 11)?
    • I could see that your question is in the "For business" SAP, but to better support you, may I reconfirm: Are you using a personal account (e.g. @outlook.com, @hotmail.com) or a work/school account (e.g. @company.com, @edu)? If you are using a work/school account, have others in the same organization with you reported similar issues?
    • When you try to reinstall, does the installer download successfully?
    • What happened when you tried to launch Teams? Does any error message appear during installation or launch? If yes, could you provide a screenshot of it so I could have a visual reference and more information on it?
    • Is Teams running in the background (check via Task Manager)?

Your confirmation would be very helpful in ensuring you receive the most suitable support!

In the meantime, kindly try the following suggestions to check what might have caused the issue:

    • Terminate background processes: Open Task Manager > End any Teams.exe processes
    • Delete residual Teams files
      • Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog
      • Enter each of these paths and delete the folder if it exists:
        • %AppData%\Microsoft\Teams
        • %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Teams
        • %ProgramData%\Microsoft\Teams
      • If you don’t see the folders, make sure hidden items are enabled in File Explorer
    • Remove registry entries
      • Check HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Teams
      • Remove Teams-related keys
    • Reinstall Teams
    • Verify Installation
      • After that, check if Teams appears in Control Panel > Programs and Features
      • Launch Teams and sign in with your account

Kindly let me know when there are updates or if you need further assistance. Any updates you’re able to share would be really helpful. I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing how things are going!

Thank you for your time and patience.
