When creating a chat, searching names does not return individuals, only groups with the individuals within them.

Searching for users within the same organization, users do not show up when searching them. Groups of which they are members do show up though, no idea why.

Trying to make a groupchat is significantly harder when I cant search the people I need to add to it. Any fix?

Microsoft Teams version 25275.2601.4002.2815.

Update: Just checked searching on mobile, not an issue. Purely desktop.

    Dear @D S

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

First of all, please help me check further on the Teams web interface to see if there is a similar error as on the desktop app.

You can also ask your colleagues if they're experiencing the same search error on the Teams desktop app.

The mobile test results confirmed that there was no problem, which suggests that this error most likely only occurs on your desktop app.

While I am waiting for the results of the web test, please perform the general troubleshooting steps below in order. Depending on the case, one of these steps may solve the problem.

Clear the Teams cache: Please kindly help me follow the instructions to clear the Teams cache I have provided.

Once the removal is complete, restart the computer (or at least exit Teams completely and reopen it), and then check the search function again.

Reference: Clear the Teams client cache

Sign out and sign back in:

If you still get the error after step 1, please log out of Teams, then quit the app completely.

Restart your computer, then sign back in to Teams. This will force your user profiles to authenticate and re-sync.

    Office Repair (Online Repair):

If it's still wrong, can you help me try the Repair Office feature and select the Online Repair option as instructed.

    Reference: Repair an Office application

    Uninstall and reinstall:

If all of the above steps still don't fix it, please uninstall the Teams app, restart your computer, and then download and reinstall the latest version of the app.

Important: After each step, please try to restart your computer before opening Teams and signing in again.

The above steps are just basic and general operations when we have a problem with an app. If the problem persists after taking all these steps, please give me feedback with the results of the web-based test and information from your colleagues.

I will base on your specific situation to come up with appropriate next steps. You can rest assured!

    Looking forward to your response!
